NSS Cleaning Camp – Swachhata Hi Seva Activities (2)

On 20 September 2024, NSS volunteers from SRNMC College organized a cleaning camp at the old Government Hospital in Sattur as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. This initiative aimed to foster community awareness about cleanliness and hygiene. Under the guidance of Dr. S. Nagaraj, NSS Programme Officer, and Dr. K. Nagendran, Assistant NSS Programme Officer, the volunteers dedicated their time and efforts to enhance the hospital’s environment.

The cleaning drive commenced early in the morning, with the volunteers equipped with brooms, dustbins, and sanitizing agents. They divided into groups to efficiently cover various areas of the hospital, including outdoor spaces and indoor facilities. The team cleared litter from gardens and walkways, tidied patient waiting areas and disinfected surfaces in the wards. They also focused on proper waste management, ensuring the segregation of recyclable materials and the safe disposal of waste.

The cleaning camp proved to be a resounding success, significantly improving the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere of the old Government Hospital. The NSS volunteers not only contributed to the beautification of the area but also gained valuable experience in teamwork and community service. This event exemplified the NSS’s commitment to social responsibility and environmental cleanliness.

Principal Dr. P. Rajaguru recognized and appreciated the hard work of the NSS volunteers, commending both students and staff for their commitment to serving the community. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing a sense of responsibility and community spirit among the participants, which is crucial for the overall development of the students.
