As part of the college’s extension activities, the National Service Scheme (NSS) organised a guest lecture on “Impact of GST in Various Sectors” on 27 September 2024 in the Seminar Hall. Dr P. Ramalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Sri SRNMC, Sattur delivered the lecture.

The resource person, Dr Ramalakshmi, holds qualifications including M.Com., M.Phil., PGDCA, Ph.D., and SET, and is a distinguished academician in the field of commerce. During the lecture, she provided a comprehensive overview of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and its implications across various economic sectors. She delved into how GST has influenced industries, trade practices, and consumer markets, highlighting the tax’s role in streamlining the indirect taxation system in India.
The session was interactive, with students and attendees engaging in a lively Q&A session following the presentation. Dr Ramalakshmi addressed queries related to GST’s practical applications, its impact on small businesses and its future trajectory in the Indian economy.
The event was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr S. Nithya (Unit No. 158), Dr K. Bhuvaneshwari (Unit No. 161) and Dr S. Abirami (Unit No. 162), who ensured smooth execution of the programme. The seminar received positive feedback from students and faculty members, who appreciated the relevance and clarity of the topic discussed.
