World Elephant Day is observed worldwide on August 12 every year. A seminar was conducted on this day on 09.08.2024 by the Department of Zoology and NSS (Unit 159) of Sri S. Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, Sattur, to create awareness about elephant conservation (Fig.1). In this event, the Head of the Department of Zoology (i/c), Dr. B. Ravichandran delivered the special lecture on Elephant Conservation. He explained about the world’s elephants and the challenges they face in terms of survival and habitat loss.
Dr. P. Kaliraj, NSS Unit (159) Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Zoology coordinated the event. In the event two short films were screened for the students to create awareness about elephants (Fig.2). More than 70 students participated in this event where all the professors and students took a pledge to save these majestic elephants.
