The Hiroshima Commemoration Day lecture was held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Therkoor, to honour the memory of the victims of the Hiroshima atomic bombing and to educate attendees on its historical significance and impact.
Students from the Department of History, Sri S. Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, Sattur delivered the lecture and offered both historical insights and personal reflections.
Students provided a comprehensive overview of the events leading up to August 6, 1945. This included:
1) The geopolitical context of World War II.
2) The development and deployment of atomic bombs by the United States.
3) Detailed accounts of the Hiroshima bombing, including its immediate and long-term effects on the city and its inhabitants.

The lecture included a segment on the impact of the bombing on global peace efforts and nuclear disarmament. The event concluded with an interactive discussion where attendees posed questions and engaged in dialogue with the student speakers.
