Physics Association – Inauguration (2024-2025)

The Inaugural function of the Physics Association for the Academic year 2024-2025 was held on 15-07-2024 at New Seminar Hall. Dr. C. V. Kannan, Head – Engineering, Technology and Quality, TP Solar Limited, Tirunelveli and Distinguished Alumni (1992-1995 Batch), Dept of Physics, was the Chief Guest.

The programme started with the prayer song by Ms. K. S. Renuga Sree and
Ms. G. Sakthi, II M. Sc., Physics. Ms. K. Muthumarigeetha, III B.Sc., Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Rajaguru, Principal of the College delivered the Presidential address. In his address, he highly appreciated the efforts of the faculty members for the upliftment of the students` community. He motivated the students towards higher education Dr. P. Sundara Venkatesh, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Physics delivered the inaugural address. In his address, he elaborated on the history of the Department of Physics and highlighted the intellectual as well as the financial contributions of the alumni towards the development of the department and students of Physics.

Dr. S. Nithya, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics introduced the resource person to the audience. The Chief Guest was honoured with a shawl by
Dr. P. Rajaguru, Principal.

The Chief Guest Dr. C. V. Kannan delivered a lecture on “India’s Renewable Energy Landscape & Developments in Solar PV regime”. In his lecture, he outlined the impact of greenhouse gases on global warming and explained the importance of renewable energy towards achieving the goal of net zero carbon emission. He elaborated on the energy demand and unavailability of fossil fuels in future. He also gave an overview of the job opportunities in the field of renewable energy in particular photovoltaic technologies. Students interact with him to clarify their thoughts. This session provided the students with a better perspective of life through examples.

Ms. A. Gurusangeetha, II M. Sc., Physics proposed the vote of thanks. 68 students were present at the Inauguration of the Physics Association. The programme came to an end with the national anthem.
