Sri SRNM College, Sattur, observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 from 28 October to 3 November with a focus on fostering integrity, transparency, and ethical values among students and staff members. The programme, aligned with the national theme “Say No to Corruption, Commit to Integrity,” included a central pledge-taking ceremony, underscoring the college’s commitment to creating a vigilant and responsible campus environment.
The pledge-taking was conducted with two key groups: students and staff members, each affirming their commitment to integrity and anti-corruption measures. For students, the ceremony was held in classrooms across the college. Guided by their teachers, students took a solemn pledge to uphold honesty, transparency, and accountability in both their academic pursuits and personal lives. This classroom-based pledge-taking encouraged a collective spirit of ethical responsibility, giving students a chance to reflect on the broader impact of their actions on society. Faculty members facilitated brief discussions post-pledge, providing real-life examples of ethical challenges, emphasising the role of young individuals in building a corruption-free future.
Meanwhile, the staff members, including academic and administrative personnel, participated in a separate pledge-taking event held in the college’s central auditorium. The pledge emphasised the importance of maintaining integrity and ethical practices within the institution. The staff members committed to setting an example of transparency, thereby reinforcing the college’s overall mission of upholding accountability in both educational and administrative functions. This act of shared commitment created a unified front among the staff, fostering a collaborative approach to uphold ethical standards.
In addition to the pledge-taking ceremonies, the college arranged a series of follow-up discussions to reinforce the importance of vigilance. Faculty and staff were invited to engage in discussions on ethics in education, the consequences of corruption, and preventive measures. These sessions aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of vigilance and its implications, highlighting practical ways to implement anti-corruption measures in daily academic and administrative activities.
Through this observance, Sri SRNM College, Sattur, not only reaffirmed its commitment to promoting an ethical and accountable campus environment but also inspired its community to carry these values forward.
