
International Youth Day ’24
The Intracollegiate Competition on International Youth Day 2024 was held on 17 August 2024 at Sri SRNM College. Organised by the Committee of Extension Activities, the competition featured a variety of on-stage and off-stage events, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their talents. The event was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of Lt Dr B. Ajantha, Dean of Internal Affairs and Extension Activities, along with Dr S. Abirami and Dr S. Nagaraj, Deputy Deans of Internal Affairs and Extension Activities.
On-Stage Events

1. Extempore Oration
Event Coordinator: Dr B. Ravichandran &
Judge: Dr Raghuram
The Extempore Oration event tested participants’ ability to speak on impromptu topics with clarity and confidence. Dr B. Ravichandran coordinated the event, ensuring a smooth flow of proceedings. Dr Raghuram, known for his expertise in public speaking, judged the participants on their fluency, coherence, and ability to convey their thoughts effectively.
The event showcased the students’ quick thinking and eloquence. Winners were selected based on their ability to articulate their thoughts clearly and confidently.
2. Poetry Recitation
Event Coordinator: Dr K. Bhuvaneshwari &
Judge: Ms. K. Abilasha
In the Poetry Recitation event, participants delivered heartfelt recitations of poems, either self-composed or chosen from renowned poets. Dr Bhuvaneshwari, the event coordinator, oversaw the event’s organisation, while Ms. Abilasha, a literary enthusiast, judged the performances based on emotional expression, delivery, and connection with the audience.

3. Fashion Parade
Event Coordinator: Lt Dr Ajantha
Judge: Ms. Lakshmi Priya
The Fashion Parade was a vibrant and creative display where students expressed their individuality through fashion. Coordinated by Lt Dr Ajantha, the event featured students showcasing innovative and culturally inspired outfits. Ms. Lakshmi Priya, a fashion expert, judged the event based on creativity, presentation, and overall impact.
Participants impressed both the audience and the judge with their unique fashion statements. The winners were celebrated for their creativity and confident presentation.
4. Free Style Dance
Event Coordinator: Dr S. Nithya
Judge: Dr S. Marithai
The Free Style Dance competition allowed participants to express their dance skills in their preferred style. Dr Nithya coordinated the event, ensuring it was an engaging and lively affair. Dr Marithai, an experienced dancer and choreographer, judged the performances on rhythm, coordination, and stage presence.

Off-Stage Events

1. Verse Writing
Event Coordinator: Dr M. Sudhadevi
Judges: Dr R. Poongothai (Tamil) Dr D. Saraswathi (English)
In the Verse Writing event, participants were tasked with composing poems in either English or Tamil. The event was coordinated by Dr M. Sudhadevi. Judges Dr D. Saraswathi and Dr Poongothai evaluated the poems based on creativity, language use, and thematic depth.
The event showcased a diverse range of poetic expressions, with winners being recognised for their originality and the emotive power of their verses.
2. Essay Writing
Event Coordinator: Dr J. Krishnaveni
Judges: Dr K. Haresh Nirmal (English), Dr K. Nagendran (Tamil)
The Essay Writing competition required participants to write insightful essays on given topics in either English or Tamil. Coordinated by Dr Krishnaveni, the event was judged by Dr Haresh Nirmal and Dr Nagenthiran. Essays were assessed for clarity of argument, coherence, and analytical depth.

3. Model Display
Event Coordinator: Dr S. Nagaraj
Judge: Dr J. Geethamani
The Model Display event allowed students to present creative and educational models. Dr Nagaraj coordinated the event, while Dr Geethamani judged the models on originality, educational value, and presentation.

4. Rangoli
Event Coordinator: Dr R. Revathi
Judge: Dr A. Ranichitra

5. Art from Waste
Event Coordinator: Dr P. Kaliraj
Judge: Dr U. Fathima Farzana
The Art from Waste event encouraged students to create artwork using recycled materials. Dr Kaliraj coordinated the event, and Dr Fathima Farzana judged the entries, focusing on innovation, aesthetics, and the effective use of waste materials.

6. Drawing
Event Coordinator: Dr S. Abirami
Judge: Dr R.S. Ramkumar
Participants in the Drawing competition created artworks based on provided themes. The event was coordinated by Dr Abirami and judged by Dr Ramkumar, who evaluated the drawings on artistic skill, creativity, and relevance to the theme.
The Drawing competition displayed a wide range of artistic talent. The winners were applauded for their creative expression and technical skill.


7. Memes Creation
Event Coordinator: Lt Dr G. Pandiarajan
Judge: Dr P. Sridevi
The Memes Creation event allowed students to express their creativity and wit through humorous and thought-provoking memes. Lt Dr Pandiarajan coordinated the event, with Dr Sridevi judging the memes on originality, humour, and relevance.
The Memes Creation event was both entertaining and insightful. The winners were praised for their clever and impactful memes.

Prize Distribution:
The event culminated in a prize distribution ceremony where Dr P. Rajaguru, Principal of Sri SRNM College, presented prizes and certificates of merit to the winners. Certificates of appreciation and tokens of love were also given to the judges, acknowledging their invaluable contribution.
The Intra-collegiate Competition on International Youth Day 2024 was a resounding success, with each event contributing to the vibrant spirit of the day. The organisers, participants, and judges played key roles in making the competition an enriching and memorable experience for everyone involved.
